DJ...nearly finished!

Nearly finished...a quick post before I head off to my Tuesday patchwork group.
oh my gosh...I'm like a little kid waiting for something special to happen!..
I think by the end of the week, my Dear Jane will be finished...I'm so excited!
OK, must go it's getting late....♥

Borders...

Because I decided not to do the triangles, and because I have done my DJ in sections for the Q-A-Y-Go method, I was a bit unsure how I was going to go about adding the borders...
After much thought and deliberation, this is what I have done...I think it will work for me!

I cut strips for the border front and backing back...not too wide, just 4 inches for the front and a little wider for the back, just so I could see what I was doing..
I attached the border strips to the front first, mitreing the corners for a nice effect when hand quilted...then attached the back border strips, but left them on the straight at the corners..

My way of thinking is that...because the quilt is so heavy, with all those tiny pieces, lots of seams...not to mention all the hand quilting which adds to the weight...having the back corners on the straight, when it's hanging up, it would help to stop the corners from stretching....that's what I'm hoping!

Now, I'm going to cut strips of batting and butt them up to the seam in between the fabric borders...I may simply hand stitch them to the seam or pin and baste them in well...I'll see what works the best! Then I'll pin and baste the three layers really well...scallop the border add the binding and finish off with hand-quilting it..

Sounds good here, so far so good....I hope it will work!

Last Section...#9

It's been so long between posts...and poor Dear Jane!

Here's the last section of my DJ,....if you have been following my progress, you may remember I am doing my DJ in the Quilt-As-You- Go method.
All the other sections have been pieced and hand-quilted, then joined together.....this has been a great way for me to do DJ....when the last section is added the top will be all quilted and ready for the borders.
I am not going to do the triangles, so I have no idea as yet how I am going to do the borders but they will also be scalloped and hand-quilted.
Just three more blocks for the last section of the top..

It's so nice to be back working on Jane...I can't even remember when I last did a block, I'll have to go back on my blog to check..

Slowly but Surely...

Still working on my DJ cross-stitch...

Slowly but surely this will get done!

It takes so much concentration...you only need to be distracted for a second and you lose your stitch count and where your up to.

I'm doing a little in the evening in front of the TV...Dh will say, "quick look at this"...a quick look and I've lost my place!

Well, I've just reached the left side corner now....must keep going on it...."this will not be another UFO !"

A little more done on my cross-stitch..
I am having a bit of trouble on some of the blocks.
The mauve triangle at the bottom I had to redo three times, and I think it's still not right!
I have been told there are a few mistakes in the graph, and I have found a few..
The triangles should be symetrical...that mauve one seems to be lop-sided...I'll come back to it another time.
It's very slow going, but I am happy with how it's turning out...
